This project would bring officials and practitioners from fields including law, health, and drug control and education entities to the United States to observe drug prevention and treatment practices. The project will highlight the roles that U.S. federal agencies, private treatment centers, and non-government community coalitions play in helping Americans to fight substance use. Visits could be arranged to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Department of State’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), state and federal courts which participate in drug court supervision and treatment programs, and private sector entities with roles in drug abuse prevention and treatment. This project will advance productive U.S.-China counter narcotics cooperation and share best practices in the areas of prevention and treatment.
