Transparency and Accountability in Government
From November 5th - 10th, the VCWA virtually hosted 13 participants from Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Honduras, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, and Venezuela. The delegation met with representatives from the University of Vermont, the Office of Secretary of State Jim Condos, Vermont State Legislators, and the Vermont Agency of Administration to discuss efforts to ensure public trust in the integrity and fairness of elected officials, public servants, and government institutions.
Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program - Virtual Reunion
On November 9, the VCWA virtually co-hosted 38 participants through the 2021 Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program (PAYLP) virtual alumni reunion with our parters at Meridian International Center, Global Ties Alabama, and Global Ties Detroit. Our PAYLP alumni were joined by former PAYLP host families and cultural performers that highlighted the immense diversity of the United States.
Best Practices in U.S. Energy Infrastructure, Planning, and Execution
On November 11th, the VCWA virtually hosted 11 participants from Pakistan. The delegation met with representatives from Vermont Energy Investment Corporation and the Burlington Electric Department to discuss best practices and lessons learned related to energy efficiency and share insight into planning strategies and key decisions that allowed the city of Burlington, VT to reach a 100% renewable energy supply.
Empowering Muslim Women as Peacemakers and Agents of Change
On November 10th and 16th, the VCWA virtually hosted 11 participants from Indonesia. The delegation met with representatives from the Islamic Society of Vermont and Vermont Works for Women to discuss firsthand perspectives from American Muslim women and share efforts to empower women politically, economically, and socially at a local level in communities across Vermont, the United States, and the world.
