The VCWA Welcomes Avery!

The Vermont Council on World Affairs is excited to announce that Avery August Anderson has joined the team as Program Manager of Exchanges! Avery will oversee the VCWA’s exchange programs including the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI), Open World, and additional youth exchanges to further strengthen mutual understanding between Americans and individuals from other nations. Avery joins the VCWA with a background in international development and humanitarian assistance. Through her diverse experiences drawing from her Master’s degree with the Network on Humanitarian Action at the University of Uppsala, Sweden; conducting wildlife conservation research as a volunteer in Madagascar; and serving as an Agroforestry Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon, Avery has developed a commitment to cultivating shared global education. She brings a deep passion for the promotion of cultural awareness, exchange, and collaboration. Most recently, Avery was employed by Pathfinder International as Country and Program Strategy and Business Development Coordinator where she promoted global public health focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights. She is excited to support the expansion of VCWA’s programs to strengthen cross-cultural awareness and global affairs. Avery enjoys sharing stories, good food, drink, and laughter with everyone she meets. Rain or shine, it wouldn’t be surprising if you met Avery on one of Vermont’s lovely trails with her new puppy.
